Who we are

Avodah Alive was founded in 2014 by Rabbi Levi Lebovits as a project of Yeshiva Toras Chaim of Denver.

A close talmid of Rav Reuven Leuchter shlit”a, Rabbi Lebovits tanslates his mesorah of mussar and avodah into uniquely practical, relatable tools that resonate with rabbanim, laypeople, high school students and not-yet-affiliated Jews alike.

What we do

Through vaadim, talks, and written materials that reach shuls, schools, and personal inboxes across the Jewish world, Avodah Alive helps countless Jews build more genuine, more positive relationships with Torah and live vibrant, empowered lives as thriving ovdei Hashem.

Thank you for your wonderful emails. They are all impactful, but this one really resonated with me. I found myself being a lot more accommodating to the needs and wants of others, especially children, in situations I previously would not have thought to do so. Tizku L'mitzvos!

Rabbi Lebovits has the ability to take things that we all know about and want and make them practical, things that we can attain.

I really love it. So different and refreshing. Even more impressive is the way you have such a grasp on the way people feel and think. Every idea laid out really resonated with the core that I wasn't even aware existed. The structure of the questions and the answers perfectly on target to walk me through what's really happening inside.

“I learned it’s possible for Torah growth to feel good.”

S.A.

I can see my life as a living breathing sugiya of the Torah. I feel a sense that the Torah is a wisdom that is personal to me and is speaking to me in my life. Torah became real to me.

Rabbi Levi Lebovits is an extraordinary teacher who occupies a unique niche in Jewish education.  He presents transformational Judaism, which means that his students are challenged to come away with ideas that they can implement in their daily lives, rather than theoretical concepts.  And, perhaps most importantly, he creates a safe zone where people can share what they are dealing with.

“My perspective on tefillah has totally changed from it being a burden, to being an opportunity”

I chanced upon the teshuva guide and my view of teshuva and Elul has been transformed. The guide was the exact answer to my concerns. I also saw that I can sign up for weekly emails and I am enjoying them immensely. It's amazing how much one can relate to words on a page. As I'm reading each email, I always say to myself: "This is exactly how I feel!". My perspective on tefillah has totally changed from it being a burden, to being an opportunity. I can now open my siddur and think that this is an opportunity to learn to see Hashem. It's not a chore anymore.

The Avodah Alive guidebook literally changed my whole life

Even just the first two pages [of the Avodah Alive guidebook literally changed my whole life. That idea of making our avodas Hashem like a business model, like a focus, not just something to get through, was amazing. I’m so excited about it.

“Torah become real to me... growth never seemed so real, concrete, enjoyable and achievable”

My entire approach to growth developed. Instead of growth being one I can see my life as a living breathing sugiya of the Torah. I feel a sense that the Torah is a wisdom that is personal to me and is speaking to me in my life. Torah became real to me. My entire approach to growth developed. Instead of growth being one strong force towards doing the right thing it became a broad sense of exploration and personal development. Growth never seemed so real, concrete, enjoyable, and achievable.
